Public Review Pd Underway Draft Housing Element Update

Nevada County has released its Draft Housing Element Update for public review through November 4. Residents are encouraged to provide feedback on plans addressing affordability, senior housing, and rising costs.
After getting comments from residents, Nevada County Public Information Officer Taylor Wolfe says their Draft Housing Element Update is now available for public review…
It guides housing planning in the unincorporated areas of
the county for the next eight years, or through 2035. Officials say public
input on the draft helps ensure it reflects the needs, opportunities, and challenges
before it advances through the state review and local adoption process,
including the Board of Supervisors. Wolfe says a community meeting was also
held recently…
Wolfe says the Housing Needs Survey, conducted in August and
September, showed rising costs, as you might expect. Also, limited rental availability,
as well as a growing need for affordable and senior-friendly options. Respondents
highlighted affordability, senior rental options and home repair assistance as
top priorities. They also noted that rising expenses, especially fire
insurance, are making it harder for longtime residents to remain in the area.
The public review period for the Draft Housing Element Update runs through
November fourth.
