Community Recovery Resources (CoRR) has been selected to receive this year’s Treatment/Recovery Award from the County Alcohol and Drug Program Administrators Association of California (CADPAAC). CADPAAC is a state-wide organization with representatives from drug and alcohol programs from California counties. CoRR is a non-profit wellness organization focused on substance abuse and related behavioral health disorders providing services to northern California communities in Placer and Nevada Counties.
“We are honored to receive this recognition”, says CEO Warren Daniels, “and extend our gratitude to Nevada County Health and Human Services for this nomination”.
This is the second time in three years the organization has received the award, an unprecedented event. In 2010, CoRR won the award following a nomination by Placer County.
The 2012 nomination letter states that it is due to CoRR’s “innovative treatment program serving individuals with co-occurring disorders and also because of their plans to open a brand new state of the art treatment facility in Grass Valley”.
The referenced campus-style treatment facility is a complete wellness center focused on substance abuse recovery and mental health. This campus-style model will allow people to find the services and support they need in a single dignified setting. The unique center will combine therapy, counseling, psychiatric, residential and medical services with programs that promote self-sufficiency—education, supportive transitional housing, employment and parenting/ life-skill training.
The federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) estimates up to 65% of individuals with a lifetime substance abuse disorder also have a lifetime history of at least one mental disorder.
Daniels says that “Our philosophy addresses co-occurring mental health issues as the norm, not the exception, and mental health services are an integral part of a complete continuum of care offered at CoRR”. More information is available at CoRR’s website, www.corr.us.
