For most of the rest of the month, you should be able to use Highway 20 to get to eastbound I-80 toward Truckee and Lake Tahoe. But you’ll still find it slow-going near various roads approaching the 80 junction. Cal Trans is wrapping up a third construction season for the overhead bridge projects at the junction. And Public Information Officer Jeremy Linder says crews are still on track to finish the westbound 80 bridge by the end of the year, weather permitting. And that will finally re-open the westbound onramp…

The eastbound overhead bridge was completed last year. But Linder says the eastbound onramp is still expected to also close from time to time, while work continues on the westbound bridge. And he says there’ll still be some other work left to complete next year, but with fewer and less-lengthy traffic disruptions.  Meanwhile, Linder says a pavement rehabilitation project on 20 needs to wind down for the season, as the weather gets cooler and the days get shorter. But this week, motorists will find one-way traffic controls on three sections. However, only one is during the daytime. That’s between Rock Creek and Washington Roads, from 7am to 6pm through Thursday, and 7am to noon on Friday…

And if you’re not sure about those delays, Linder reminds Western Nevada County motorists that they can also use Highway 174 to get to 80.
