League Of Women Voters Officers Nonpartisan Resources

As election mailers flood your mailbox, the League of Women Voters recommends using nonpartisan resources and early voting to make informed choices and ensure timely election results.
As we get closer to Election Day, voters are commonly inundated with even more mailers and ads. But the League of Women Voters says those are all funded by partisan groups advocating for just one candidate or viewpoint on a ballot measure. The president of the League for Nevada County, Lynn Forbes, says there are a number of nonpartisan sources with balanced and unbiased information that she recommends when you can’t make up your mind…
Forbes also notes that even though the local and state
pamphlets mailed to voters usually include paid statements for both sides, they’re
not necessarily emotionally nuanced…
Forbes says the local League of Women Voters’ website also features their recent local candidates forums and a video of the KCRA-sponsored forum between Congressional District candidates Ami Bera and County Supervisor Robb Tucker. And she says there’s a stronger emphasis from the League and the Clerk-Recorder’s Office to vote early enough that more ballots can be counted on Election Night, leaving less uncertainty about outcomes that will, otherwise, drag on for days and sometimes weeks.
