Neighborhood Readiness Project is EXTENDED THROUGH SEPTEMBER, 2026. Discounted bulk food staples will be available from locally-owned suppliers: SPD Markets, Peaceful Valley Farm & Garden Supply, Natural Selections, Mother Truckers Market, California Organics, BriarPatch Food Co-op, and Prepare Direct. In the event of natural disaster, systemic economic failure, or fuel-supply interruption, local markets have, on average, only three days of inventory on hand. NRP proposes to assist neighbors with food security for a few transitional months. Nevada County will stand as a ready model for preparedness, stored-food wealth, and generosity-of-spirit. (Neighborhood block parties rather than Mad Max ;-) No-cost assistance with packaging your staples with nitrogen (regardless of where purchased), will be offered from 5-7pm on Tuesdays September 14 and 29 at the Banner Grange. Concurrently, indigenous cultural curators will offer instruction in sustainable harvesting, preparation and storing of traditional regional foods and resources.
