NevCo Elections Refutes Illegal Voter Claims

Nevada County officials are reviewing DOJ claims of noncitizens on voter rolls, though local election leaders express confidence that all state and federal laws are being followed.
The Nevada County Elections Department is among other counties around the state that are reviewing recent claims from the U.S Justice Department about illegal voting. The suit claims that the state has knowingly allowed over 20-thousand likely noncitizens to remain on voter rolls and receive mail-in ballots. That includes only 10 possible people in Nevada County. In a statement, Clerk-Recorder Armando Salud-Abriz says they’re confident that state and federal laws are being followed, after investigating the list of the names that had been flagged. California officials, including Governor Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta, have condemned the claims as a political weapon and an attempt to disenfranchise eligible citizens. They also noted that similar federal lists have previously been shown to be inaccurate and unvetted.
