Bera Expected To Be First Democratic Cong Rep Here In Decades

Ami Bera is projected to become Nevada County’s first Democratic representative in decades, following district boundary shifts that secured his victory over Robb Tucker.
Thanks to the passage of Proposition 50, Nevada County is expected to soon have its first Democratic Congressional representative in decades. Ami Bera is projected to defeat Republican County Supervisor Robb Tucker, who is still in the middle of his first term in public office. The third congressional district was among districts that were drastically remapped, after the passage of Prop 50 a year ago. That resulted in the district skewing more Democratic, prompting Kevin Kiley to seek re-election in another district. And that’s when Bera, in his 13th year in Congress, decided to shift to District Three. He tells us the new party majority in the House and U.S. Senate means new opportunities to improve the quality of life for Americans…
Bera notes that the Iran conflict was also on the minds of a
lot of voters when they cast their ballots…
Bera says he’ll also get his staff organized to help him be more responsive to a lot of new constituents, including in Nevada County, where he recently talked about helping NID officials get more federal funding to defray the huge cost of the Scotts Flat spillway. He also mentions that many voters feel the Trump Administration has been corrupt and he’d like to see a Congressional Committee investigate it.
